“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”

The Word of God is the food for the soul; it nourishes, strengthens, and reveals God’s will for our lives. Sometimes it offers correction and guidance, enlightening our hearts and minds to identify where problems lie and why we may not receive God’s perfect blessings.

We can experience blessings alongside problems, such as having a strong financial situation but struggling with the bad habit of drinking alcohol, or being talented and educated yet unemployed. God desires for us to receive perfect blessings, which are often hidden within scripture and Sunday sermons. He gives teachers, preachers, and evangelists to the Church to help lead us toward perfection.

The Word of God does not benefit everyone because it is not mixed with faith. There are several reasons for this:
– Some people struggle to concentrate on the Word due to worldly distractions.
– Others may not fully grasp the meaning of the entire message.
– Some people didn’t believe the word preached if the pastor is preaching that reading the Bible can eliminate your depression. They thought we had expensive treatments and doctors; they didn’t heal me. How can reading a thousand-year-old Bible heal my current situation? If they don’t believe those instructions, they wouldn’t follow them, and they wouldn’t get the profit.

A delicious dessert consists of many ingredients such as milk, sugar, fruits, and dessert powder. If the milk, sugar, and dessert powder aren’t mixed well, the dessert won’t be delicious. Similarly, a Christian must mix their faith with the Word of God to be effective in their spiritual life.

“Faith is like the blood of a Christian; without blood, we cannot survive. Just as our bodies consume food which breaks down into small components and enters our bloodstream to nourish our organs, the Word of God serves as food that provides nutrients to our faith.”

To benefit from God’s Word, we should read the Bible and listen attentively during sermons. We should pray in our hearts, asking, “Lord, speak to me through this sermon and guide me in what I should do.” If God instructs you to fast every three days, start by believing in that directive and following it.

You may follow this for three months without seeing any results, and you might feel tempted to give up. However, if in your heart the Holy Spirit encourages you to keep going, that perseverance is the essence of mixing the Word with faith.
