Communication is a fundamental aspect of every relationship. When people stop talking to each other, their relationship begins to deteriorate. The Bible states, “For thy Maker is thine husband, and the Lord of hosts is his name” (Isaiah 54:5). The first relationship God established was between husband and wife, where they become not two, but one. This reflects how God interacts with His people. As mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:17, “He who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit.”
God often refers to Himself as a husband and His people as brides. The same intimacy that exists between husband and wife is the intimacy God desires with His people. In Greek, ” joined ” means “to glue,” suggesting that those who cling to the Lord become one spirit with Him.
Prayer is a vast and essential aspect of Christianity. It encompasses:
– *Communication*: Talking to God
– *Supplication*: Asking for help
– *Thanksgiving*: Expressing gratitude for what He has done in the past, present, and future
– *Worship*: Praising God, for He is good all the time
– *Seeking*: Seeking God’s guidance and understanding His hidden truths
– *Knocking*: Persistently asking until the door is opened
“The one not in prayer is in the devil’s hand.”
The devil finds no fear in those who bask in worldly luxuries like new cars, homes, job promotions, and other blessings. Without maintaining a close relationship with God- the source of these gifts- those blessings can quickly be taken away. Imagine acquiring a high-quality phone but neglecting to charge it; it becomes useless. In the same way, “your blessings and strength derive from prayer and being in the presence of Jesus.”
Just as an expensive car requires maintenance, so do the blessings in our lives. Despite living a blessed life, I know a woman who faced turmoil, conflict, and disagreement in her marriage. They soon realized their struggles stemmed from a lack of prayer. However, they found peace once they began praying and holding hands in unity.
This illustrates how the devil seeks to undermine relationships and snatch away blessings. Only God, the giver of those blessings, holds the power to sustain them. Let prayer be your lifeline, nurturing your connection with Him and fostering his divine love.
