Prayer acts as a vital barrier, protecting you from the devil’s schemes. It serves as a communication channel where you connect with God, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you and inform you about any impending attacks from the devil. Whenever you weaken this barrier, it creates an opportunity for the devil to interfere in your life.

I have observed that many people want to pray and have already done so, yet they haven’t received answers, sometimes waiting for years. There are exceptions where God deliberately doesn’t answer a prayer because He has a greater plan, as seen in the case of Zechariah and Elizabeth. Their prayer was answered later in life with the birth of their son, John the Baptist. As stated in the Bible, Luke 1:6-7:

[6] “And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
[7] And they had no child because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.”

In this instance, weaknesses and bad habits were not the reason for their delayed answer. Personally, when I used to pray daily for an hour, asking the Lord to deliver me from certain satanic influences in my dreams, He answered me after a year. He didn’t provide the complete answer immediately but gave me the grace and courage to pursue full deliverance. Unfortunately, others may not have experienced answers for so long not necessarily due to God’s will but because of their own shortcomings.

.”Some people pray but do not transform their lives. “
“Others pray but fail to reflect the character of Jesus.”
*I know some women who have prayed for a long time for their sons and families to change and become believers, but nothing has happened. Why is that? It’s often because they have a habit of backbiting and murmuring. Sometimes, they know this behavior but don’t take steps to change it. Other times, they may not want to search it at all. This is why, as stated in Matthew 7:7, we should keep seeking, and we will find.

*Similarly, some young boys may pray for hours but still have the terrible habit of lying. As mentioned in Psalm 101:7, “He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.” The key point is that it’s not enough to simply pray; one must also work on eliminating bad habits

*Some believers pray but often use abusive language and create discomfort among those who witness their prayers, setting a poor example. Others may observe and say, “This person prays, yet they still sing secular songs and use foul language.” This behavior not only disrespects the act of prayer but also undermines the relationship one has with the Lord Jesus during those prayers.

*While some believe they maintain their prayers and are steadfast in their faith, they fail to change harmful behaviors, which are akin to “flies in stagnant water.” To truly embody a faithful prayer life, one must be like flowing water—consistently engaging in prayer while also working to eliminate negative habits.

Even the great King David asked the Lord in Psalm 139:24, “And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Therefore, I encourage you to let go of your bad habits and address the weaknesses that hinder your prayers from being answered. When we do not adhere to God’s Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our prayers can become displeasing to God (Proverbs 28:9).
